Susquehanna Brewing Co - Orange is the New Ale
Susquehanna Brewing Co (SBC) is based out of northeastern Pennsylvania in the United States. They pride themselves on being “beer people” before it was cool, with the current brewers being sixth generation. SBC have an interesting selection of beers including a Mexican style lager, and fruity selections such as their strawberries and cream ale and blueberry sour ale.
If their Orange is the New Ale is anything to go by, I will be shortly snapping up these other choices, as I think I fell in love. My greatest concern now is that they stop making Orange is the New Ale for whatever reason.
I never thought Schofferhofer’s Grapefruit wheat beer could be bettered in terms of thirst quenching deliciousness. It is (soon to be “was”) my standard in summer drinking, a light, easy to drink, juicy beverage. Orange is the New Ale is that and then some.
Orange is the New Ale has a deep malty, hot doughy bread just out of the oven mouthfeel and taste to begin with. Punchy blood orange flavour sits on top transitioning to it a juice like clear finish, right amounts bitter and sweet as if you have just taken a bite from a blood orange itself. Think a San Pellegrino Blood Orange soda, a fresh zest punch in the taste buds, with lots of juicy goodness but with a lightness that makes this my summer beer 2023 onwards.
