BrewDog - Lightspeed

BrewDog is quite the institution at this point, but as they often highlight, they are still independent. This is extremely unique nowadays with many of the most popular beers owned and brewed by huge multinationals.

BrewDog has become my go-to if I am visiting the supermarket though I will often pick what I can locally (more on those to come). I especially enjoy their regular releases that keep things fresh with remixes on existing and out-of-the-blue pleasant surprises kind of like Lightspeed.

Lightspeed is a 4% hazy IPA. I could lie and say the whole “95 calories per can” was a selling point for me, but I honestly did not notice this until after.

One ingredient seems to stand out, which is the malted oats. They provide for a rounded creaminess in mouth feel and flavour. Flavours include peach and orange in a soft sorbet like roundedness. Not overly sweet, what can only be described as a dampened sweetness like a flavoured spring water or seltzer without the sugar. A session IPA for sure, and one that for a fruit flavour packed beer at no point gets sickening.
